Active involvement
Continue engaging key figures
Identify challenges and gaps
Find out what is missing or slows down the progress
Ongoing processes
Continue communication and training efforts
Expand is the third of four primary phases of change management which focuses on continuing the processes of the second phase and helps to identify the critical gaps.
Step 1. Promote adoption
Remind key figures to continue active involvement in the transformation journey. Their promotion efforts are invaluable for the organisation.
Step 2. Prioritize transformation opportunities
At this point the cultural challenges and skill gaps will inevitably come to light. Be sure to quickly address those issues as to not let them slow down the change. Upon identifying the gaps between current and desired states, you are in a better position to assess what needs to be done to ready your organisation.
Step 3. Continue communications
Now that the end users have already had a closer look at the new toolset, it might be beneficial to share use cases. All the insights should support the positive image of the change and remind the employees about the benefits coming with it.
Step 4. Continue training
After the end users complete the basic training they should continue with more advanced ones. It will prove itself useful in the long run to invest more time in preparation, so that the team can use the new technology to the maximum after the transformational journey is complete.
Takeaway
Expand Phase is the best time to identify everything that has not been planned before and quickly adapt the strategy to solve emerging issues, be it cultural or technological ones.
To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.
