The aim of the simulation game is to optimize a credit process with regard to lead time, quality, and costs.

You will be amazed at what you can achieve in a day.

Content

  • Kreditbank AG is the regional market leader for real-estate financing. The bank has four branches which offer real-estate loans. The final processing of the applications and the decision on the financing are made at the bank’s headquarters (the Kredit factory).
  • It is very important for the branches to process applications quickly and correctly, so that they can simultaneously guarantee service quality and low costs.
  • Each player represents one of the departments involved in the processing of loan applications (e.g. interest calculation, credit check, credit decision, etc.).
  • After the first round, the process is reviewed and optimized with the aid of Lean Six-Sigma tools. The second round of the game illustrates the tremendous improvement that can be made.

Hospital Simulation Lean Six Sigma Process improvement
  • in-house

Objective of the training

Get to know Lean Six Sigma as part of a practice-oriented management simulation for the healthcare sector!

The aim of the simulation game is to optimize the process from patient admission to invoicing with regard to lead time, quality, and costs.

You will be amazed at what you can achieve in a day.

Content

  • The Musterhausen hospital is a very respectable municipal-district hospital that provides basic and regular care with 350 beds. It consists of seven specialist departments and treats 15,000 in-patient cases annually.
  • An in-patient goes through various phases and areas during his stay at the hospital. These depend on the diagnoses, his type of admission, his insurance status, the procedures, and the course of recovery, among other things.
  • Each player represents a department that is involved in the treatment of the patient (e.g. patient admission, anesthesia, surgery, billing, etc.).
  • After the first round, the process is reviewed and optimized with the aid of Lean Six-Sigma tools. The second round of the game illustrates the improvements that can be made.

Supply Chain Lean Six Sigma Process improvement
  • in-house

Objective of the simulation

An example of an end-to-end supply chain between a brewery and the consumer is used to demonstrate the consequences of poor communication among businesses. After the game, participants will recognize that problems in the process (order swings/“Bullwhip Effect”) are not caused by customers but by their own actions

Content

  • Each team plays together to achieve the best team result. Each team represents one link in the production and distribution system. The brewery brews beer, which is then sold to the end customer via a distributor, wholesaler and retailer. Each position is represented by one team member who manages his/her own stock and takes orders for goods independently from others.
  • The warehouse and order backlog (inability to deliver ordered goods) will result in different costs. The winner will be the team with the lowest total costs at the end of the simulation.
  • The individual positions manage their stock through orders (brewery through producing goods) and are free to make independent decisions regarding orders. Everybody can order as few or as many as they want. End customer orders are predefined (on a stack of cards) and only the retailer can receive them and know the exact customer order amounts ordered by the customer each week.
  • Participants are always amazed by the results and they learn why transparency and communication within the processes are essential for the success of a businesses.

Further information

  • Languages: German or English
  • Duration: 2 - 3 hours

Content

  • You produce robust jeeps as a part of a production line. Each player represents one production department (e.g. Warehouse, Chassis Assembly, Quality Control etc.)
  • Two production rounds are played. After the first production round, the key causes of poor output are identified and the production process is optimized.
  • Lean tools used: Value Added Analysis, Muda, Bottleneck Analysis, fine tuning of the processes.
  • At the end of the second round, the produced jeeps will be counted and the quantity will be compared to that of the first round. The result is then discussed and implemented in everyday business.
